Studio Renovation 2022
STUDIO RENOVATION 2022
It has been six months of getting the space ready and then the sort through of decades of artwork, sketches, supplies, inspiration files, and more. I began 2022 with a deep dive into my art making practices with Gabriella Buckingham, UK and her course Ignite Your Art. I then rolled right into Nicholas Wilton’s intense course, CVP, Creative Visionary Program. Both of these programs helped me realize that I needed to finally get a defined space, a creating sanctuary, where I could begin to realize the creating of the work that is calling me. Up until 2016, my personal creative practice had been on hold as I prioritized raising my family and teaching others. My adult children have been instrumental with supporting me to move forward with bringing forth my personal journey. As with most things, I didn’t realize the journey of personal insight work that creating my home studio would involve. Going through years of artwork, gaps and unfulfilled ideas were revealed. Being an artist sounds romantic and special. I suppose it is and it isn’t! Meaning it is a lot of personal “get to know yourself” and “leave the world behind” practice as well as determination to make room for the work to be made visible and concrete. A uniting of a lot of practical + visionary day to day creating. I nearly said “a marriage of” but thought better of that as “uniting” allows for flow as when bodies of water meet.
I hope to share more here in 2023 as I get this work of being an artist going again in my new imperfect space!
