That winter color shows up in the evenings! Two things you will also see in my artwork, beautiful colors and natural, organic lines. How about this sunset and those trees though? Soup is made, outdoor animals fed, woodstove ready, and doing all the art prep things as I wait to see how much snow we get this go round. * I belong to an art group @braveinpaint and am participating in the #igniteyourart course which started last week. I've been so busy evaluating where I've been and where I want to go with my art that I haven't taken much time to share here. * I am really analyzing my use of color and what intuitively brings joy to my work. My most recent works were monochromatic and a few of the #jewelsofnaturecollection are still available. Link in Bio. These slides show some of the mental process of color work. 1-gathering wardrobe inspiration with my scarves. 2- mixing color triads to enhance my color mixing. 3- sorting and cutting analogous color cards to facilitate auditioning colors without having to mix up tons of trial paint. * All of this is background research and development that is only revealed in application in the final works. Most of this is intuitive to me anymore and I don't share much about it which can make it seem like I'm not doing much. I'm thinking you might be interested here in more of the underlying process. I know I am always up to learn how other artists work. It's easy to fall out of one habit when you are developing another! So, I haven't posted here for a bit but progress is happening over here elsewhere. So many things going on this new year as I embrace, really embrace, #wintering. There are many layers to being at peace and comfortable with all that this season brings. I've been focused away from here and leaning into morning meditation, music and movement. Also lots of soups, tea, stitching and walks. * I've been connecting with my online art groups #thestudiosource and #braveinpaint and feeling supported with folks also on this artist journey. "Brave in Paint" is a UK group with artist @gabriellabuckingham. We started this week with her course #igniteyourart and it is spot on helping me center myself for my next area of focus. I am definitely of the "lifelong learner" philosophy and can always find some area for growth. * I've been color sampling and prepping supplies.
